Island & Inshore Fishing: (updated
9/21/07)
The albacore fishing has been hit and miss for a
lot of anglers but there are lots of fish out there. Most of the
albacore seem to be in the Butterfly area. water temps there are
around 70 degrees. The kelp patties are still holding Yellow tail and
dorado. The Cortez area have been producing some
albacore, yellow tail, and Yellow fin tuna. Lots of the bait in all of these
areas and guys are metering loads of fish but getting them to bite is a
different story.

Lobster Hoop Nets
Lobster Season is almost upon us. We have lots of
lobster hoop nets in stock and we have some very good prices on them
when you buy in volume.
Surf Fishing:

Surf fishing has also been very good. We have
been seeing fine Corbina, yellowfin
Croaker and Surf Perch along many areas of Long Beach as well as some good halibut catches
along the surf. Many anglers using Berkley
Gulp Jerk Shad, Krocadiles, Kastmasters or Frenze Lures to catch the
halibut. The areas from 72nd place out to Cherry beach have
been the most productive. The Sargo fishing had been great with some
monster fish caught on blood worms. More Bonito and Mackerel showing
up at Pier J and Belmont Pier.
In the Freshwater Scene:
We have seen some good Crappie fishing and
Bluegill Fishing at El Dorado Park. The best baits have been wax worms
and the better lures have been the trout traps in fire cracker. All
the lakes in southern California have been doing well on the bass.
Most of them are currently in the Pre Spawn condition, which means
they are in shallow water and hungry, eating as much as they can to
get them ready to lay eggs. Many guys are using the Yamamoto Ikas drop
shotted to fines fish the bass.
